DESCRIZIONE: Lo Schinus molle, noto come falso pepe, è un albero sempreverde dioico dall’elegante portamento ricadente che ricorda un po’ il salice. Le sue foglie imparipennate sottili sprigionano un intenso e caratteristico aroma pepato se strofinate. In autunno, i rami si riempiono di spettacolari grappoli di bacche rosa brillante che persistono a lungo. Una curiosità affascinante: sebbene le sue bacche aromatiche assomiglino al pepe e vengano talvolta usate come spezia, questa pianta non ha alcuna parentela con il vero pepe nero. Le bacche rosa contengono sostanze che, se ingerite in grandi quantità, possono causare effetti collaterali come irritazione della mucosa gastrica, gastrite, ulcera, emorroidi e ipertensione.

DESCRIPTION: Schinus molle, commonly known as the false pepper tree, is an evergreen with an elegant, weeping habit somewhat reminiscent of a willow. Its delicate leaves release a strong, characteristic peppery scent when crushed. In autumn, the branches are adorned with spectacular clusters of bright pink berries that persist for a long time. A fascinating fact: although its aromatic berries resemble pepper and are sometimes used as a spice, this tree is completely unrelated to true black pepper.
